ALBERT UDERZO
French author and illustrator (1927)
Biography:
Albert Uderzo, from Italian origin, was born in Fismes in 1927. He soon moved to France and inn 1940, he published his frist drawings for "Junior". During the 50s he met René Goscinny and began working with him. In 1959, they gave birth to Asterix for the output of Pilot. At the beginning, Goscinny and Uderzo wanted to create Gallic with the athletic breadth. But Asterix was all the same when he made his first appearance, with the look (not very imposing) that we know well. As for Obelix, he became bigger as the years went by.
Asterix soon became world-famous and Pilot published around 30 books. It is, for sure, the most successful French album abroad, translated to 101 languages and dialects.
Uderzo is also the author of Michel Tanguy with Jean-Pierre Charlier.
