ETIENNE DELESSERT
Swiss illustrator (1941)
Biography:
Etienne Delessert was born in Lausanne in 1941. But he lived in Connecticut, United States. From 1959 to 1974 he worked as advertising graphic dessigner in Switzerland, Paris and New York. In 1967 he publishes his first book Sans fin, la fête for Harlin-Quist editors. In 1973 he founded Carabosse Society in Lausanne, which designed strip cartoons for television. In 1975 he is given a retrospective in Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. In 1977 he founded Editions Tournesol, giving the possibility to publish to young illustrators. Well-known throughout the world, he has largely contributed to the renewal of children books.
Graphic award in Bologne in 1981 and 1989.
Golden Plaque d'Or in Bratislava in 1979.
