More about Little Lord Fauntleroy:
This book was a real success at the time of its publication. But contrary to expectations, this children's book was more accepted by mothers than by children. The characterization of Cedric, dressed in velved and with a collar, became so fashionable that many children, though unwillingly, began dressing like their mother's ideal literay figure.
Adaptations:
Burrett's romantic novel has been adapted into cinema quite a lot. The most remarkable film adaptations are the silent ones from 1914 and 1922, and the 1936 version directed by John Cromwell. More recent versions include those of 1980, directed by Jack Gold, and 1995, directed by Andrew Morgan.
