By adapting Philip Wylie's and Edxin Balmes's novel When Worlds Collide, young Alex Raymond created the character of Flash Gordon.
The first Sunday pages with the strip cartoon appeared the 7th January 1934. In 1940 the strip appears daily, created by Alex Raymond and Austin Briggs, who little by little becomes in charge of it. From 1948 to 1967 Mac Rabuy follows Briggs and the daily strip cartoon is finally taken by Dan Barry and his assistants.
