Five weeks in Balloon is Doctor Samuel's narration with his companions, Dick Kennedy (an Scottish adventurer) and manservant Joe. s usual, Verne chose a contemporary topic: the aim of the expedition was to complete the mapping of Africa and to solve the problem of the source of the Nile. Moreover, his imagination led to conquering the sky with an aerostatic balloon.
