Biography:


Theodor Seuss Geisel was born in Springfield in 1904. In 1925, he graduated from Dartmouth College. Two years later he began submitting cartoons and humourous articles for the magazines Judge, Life, Vanity Fair and Liberty. During his Army days he did some documentaries (Hitler lives and A Design for Death, both awarded with an Oscar) and a cartoon called Gerald Mac Boing-Boing. His frist children's books was The Cat in the Hat (1957), which was meant for very young children just leaning how to read. The book gained immediate recognition and became a popular success among American children and parents. Dr. Seuss has published hundreds of children's books which now are considered to be classics. Among his most celebrated works, we find How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1957), Green Eggs and Ham (1960) and the recently published Oh, the Places You'll Go (1990).
