ALEX RAYMOND
American author (1909-1956)
Biography:
Alex Raymond, his true name being Alexander Gillespie Raymond, was born in New Rochel in 1909. He works as assistant in different studios. From January 1934 on, Alex Raymond publishes his first Sunday pages of Flash Gordon, together with a complementary series of Jungle Jin. Up until the war, the series was very successful. In 1944 Alex leaves the drawing of both series to hi assistant Austin Briggs in order to join the Navy. Then he creates Rip Kirby, a strip which he never stops drawing. He dies in 1956 after a car accident.
Alex raymond is still one of the great figures of American strip cartoon.
