LYMAN FRANK BAUM
American author (1856-1919)
Biography:
Lyman Frank Baum was born in Chittenago (New-York) on 15 May 1856. He has worked as poultry farmer, comedian, writer and journalist before publishing his first boon for children Mother Goose in Prose in 1897. This book was made out of short-stories that Baum himself used to tell to his four children.
In 1900 Baum-Denslow team produce a best-seller: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and being considered the nation's book for children, Baum's reputation as a writer is firmly established. Later on, his audience insisting he continued the Oz stories, he wrote many sequels for children, all set in this wonderful Land of Oz.
He died on 5 May 1919, having published a hundred books during his lifetime.
